Why We Trust DuxxBak Decking: A Visit to the Green Bay Manufacturing Facility
Recently I had the opportunity to travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin to visit the manufacturing facility of one of the companies whose products we install here at Heritage Deck & Frame. Experiences like this are always meaningful because they give us a deeper understanding of the materials we build with and the people behind them.
As contractors, we spend a lot of time thinking about framing, structural details, decking systems, and how everything performs over time. But visiting a manufacturing facility reminds you that behind every board, bracket, and system is a team of people who care deeply about what they produce.
And that matters.
Seeing the production process firsthand was an incredible experience. Walking through the facility and observing the product from raw material all the way through finished manufacturing gave me a new appreciation for the engineering, testing, and quality control that goes into every piece.
Every stage of manufacturing is intentional.
From the way the materials are handled to the systems used to ensure consistency, it’s clear that the goal is not simply to produce decking products quickly, but to produce them well. It’s one thing to read about specifications or installation methods, but it’s another thing entirely to stand in the building where the product is actually made.
That kind of perspective changes the way you think about building.
One of the things that stood out most during the visit was how closely their philosophy aligns with our own values at Heritage Deck & Frame. The focus wasn’t just on manufacturing products — it was on creating systems that perform over time.
Attention to detail, durability, and pride in craftsmanship were evident everywhere throughout the facility.
Those same values guide the way we approach our work. When we build a deck, porch, or outdoor living space, we’re thinking far beyond the day the project is completed. We’re thinking about how the structure will perform ten or twenty years from now, whether the framing will remain solid and safe, and whether the finished project reflects true craftsmanship.
Working with manufacturers who ask those same questions is incredibly important to us.
Construction is often thought of as simply materials and labor, but in reality it is built on relationships — relationships between homeowners and builders, relationships between contractors and suppliers, and relationships between contractors and manufacturers.
Getting the opportunity to meet the people behind the products, hear their vision, and understand their standards helps strengthen those connections. It also gives us greater confidence in the systems we recommend to our clients.
When we suggest a product or building system, we want to know it is backed by people who care deeply about their work.
Another aspect of the company that resonated strongly with me was their commitment to building their product here in the United States. The entire DuxxBak system is sourced and manufactured domestically, supporting American jobs and American manufacturing.
Supporting small businesses and strengthening local economies is something that is very important to us at Heritage Deck & Frame. As a small business ourselves, we understand how meaningful it is when people choose to support companies that are investing in their communities.
Knowing that the decking system we install is manufactured here in the United States adds another level of alignment with our values. It means the product we bring to our clients isn’t just engineered for performance — it also contributes to the strength of our local economy.
One of the things that impressed me most during the visit was the consistency across the entire product line.
Many companies offer multiple tiers of products where the lower tiers sacrifice durability or material quality in order to reduce cost. What stood out here is that every product line is built around the same standards and backed by the same warranty.
That means when you choose a DuxxBak deck system, you are not sacrificing the quality of the boards in order to choose a different style or system. The materials, engineering, and durability remain consistent across the brand.
That kind of uniformity creates a brand that is truly congruent. The standards are clear, the expectations are consistent, and the quality remains dependable regardless of which product line is selected.
For us as builders, that matters a lot.
When we install a product, we want to know that it is designed to last and that the company behind it stands fully behind what they produce. Seeing the process firsthand and understanding the standards they maintain gives us even greater confidence when recommending their products.
At Heritage Deck & Frame, we are intentional about the materials we choose to build with. We only recommend products that we trust to perform over time and that reflect the level of quality we want associated with our work.
DuxxBak is one of those products.
Being certified to install this system and having the opportunity to bring it to homeowners in the Pittsburgh area is something we are genuinely excited about. It aligns with our vision of building outdoor spaces with high-quality materials while supporting companies that share our commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and American manufacturing.
It is a system we are proud to install, confident to stand behind, and glad to recommend to our clients knowing it is built with longevity, quality, and craftsmanship in mind.
Experiences like this trip to Green Bay are a reminder that the best building materials come from companies that value the same things we do — thoughtful engineering, consistency in quality, and pride in the work being done.
When those values align between manufacturer and builder, it shows up in the finished project.
And ultimately, that means a better outdoor space for the homeowners we serve.
